The Hong Kong 'China' Overprints British Offices In China 1917 - 1930

Amoy

Amoy (now known as Xiamen) is a coastal city in southeastern China. "It was one of the five original Treay Ports opened under the Treaty of Nanking, 1842. There were two British Post Offices in Amoy, the original office at the Bay of Amoy on Kulangsu Island where the British Consulate and foreign community lived, and a later second post office set up on the adjacent mainland that was the commercial area. The British post offices in Amoy closed on 30 November 1922."HKPSJ 13 Mr. Frank Drake & Mr. David Drake

The earliest known cancel from Amoy on the China Overprints is Jan 2 1917

Index -F- was believed to be used at the office at Ku Lang Seu Island. HKSP Newsletter Dec 2018
